Floor/ Ceiling

They are cruising right along with the framing. They put the floor joists on Thursday and then the garage ceiling/ upstairs sub floor in on Friday. They are working on the walls for upstairs today and tomorrow. The roof trusses will be delivered on Wed and then a roof will soon follow. It is coming right along!

Rylee's first parent teacher conference

Today we had Rylee's first parent teacher conference. On the way there, Rylee told me that "she hasn't had to sit in the "thinking chair" or put her head down so I think I am doing great mom!" She was right on the money, her teacher had nothing but nice things to say about her. She said she is well above where they want them to be at the end of the year. She said she is very smart, helpful, and tad bit of a perfectionist. She is great to have in class. She is shy, but does like to chat a little too much with the girls she has made good friends with. It was weird to be on the other side of the table. In the past, I have only attended as the teacher.

More progress

Not only did they get the beam in, they also got siding on and the dirt hauled away. Rylee's sledding hill is gone, but that means more progress. They are supposed to get the garage roof/upstairs floor done tomorrow. They are cruising. Progress is great!

32 foot steel beam

Today they put in the steel beam that spans the whole length of the garage. They used the loader to lift it up and then they pushed and pulled it into place. It was quite the task, but they did it!

Framing

The current playroom window had to come out since this will be become Avery's bedroom, she doesn't need a window looking into the garage from her room.

They insulated and prepared the window to board over.

Two garage walls up and one more to go. They made great progress today! Yippee!

I am afraid to say that things are going well for fear it might make things crazy again. I have learned though that the "bad things come in 3's rule" doesn't apply to construction. I am trying really hard to go with the flow and not let things bother me, but it is a tad bit stressful. We learned that we have to replace our septic. We weren't planning on that, but we HAVE to do it before we can close with the bank. So it has to get done ASAP before the ground freezes since it will still be frozen when the construction is supposed to be done. We also have to get some other dirt work done and the dump truck driver has canceled on us twice after we have had the loader operator here and ready to go. I know it will all work out...and eventually all get done. I will just buy lots of tums for the ulcers and get a great hair dresser to cover up the greys!

Concrete

On Friday we actually got concrete...Hallelujah!! It cured well and was ready for the framing to begin. The supplies for the framing were also delivered on Friday. We have great progress!

True addict!

You know your daughter is a true hair twirling addict when you catch her twirling her sister's hair while she is sitting next to her on the couch. Habits...how do you break them??

Gramma

4 Generations...Ryan, Karen, Gramma, and Rylee (3 months old)

Ryan's Gramma passed away yesterday. We are happy that she was able to return home. She will be missed, but we know she is much happier reunited with those she loves that have passed before her and we know we will see her again. She was an amazing cook and seamstress. She loved to read. Her funeral will be in Anchorage next week and she will be buried next to Ryan's Grampa who passed away in 1987 due to cancer.

4 walls and a roof

Yeap...4 plastic walls and a roof...built so the concrete can be poured. I think it completely fits...we have a "big top" for the circus that I live in.

This is the view this morning after we got it standing again.

We got a call at 6 AM from the contractor saying that it was snowing pretty hard and we should try and get it off the tent before it gets too heavy and collapses. When we checked it was TOO LATE! The center had already collapsed. Ryan and I worked from 6 to 7 to get all the snow off and rebrace the center. Ryan climbed underneath and slide the snow to the sides and I scooped it off. We then braced it underneath to hopefully keep it from happening again. They are supposed to pour concrete today and start framing Thurs. The joys of trying to build during an Alaskan winter. We will see who will win...the Alaska weather or our contractor. Please cheer for our contractor! We need all the help we can get!!

Godcident

I have been meaning to share something that happened to me last weekend. I woke up in the morning feeling tired, but OK. As the day moved on, my frequency in urination increased and it started to burn. It was like I had to go all the time and hurt really bad. Once it got into afternoon, I had blood in my urine. I was in horrible pain. I was trying to help the guys with the stuff outside since everything seemed to be going wrong. They sent me to the store to get some supplies and I took Zoey with me for the adventure in Ryan's big, clunky truck. I grabbed my purse and cell phone. I locked the key pad on the phone and put it in my back pocket. When I returned home, my cell phone rang. It was Ryan's Uncle David. He just happens to be a DR in Alabama. He said that he was just calling me back because he saw that I had called him earlier that day. (which I had not done and my cell phone was in my possession at all times, so my kids could not have played with it and called him by accident) Confused a little I explained that I had not called him. I said since I have you on the phone can I ask you a couple questions? I explained my symptoms and he said he believed I had a urinary tract infection. He told me to give him the phone number to the pharmacy and he would call me in a prescription. So he put my on and antibiotic and pain reliever. I was able to start the medicine Sat evening instead of waiting and suffering until Monday. Ever since I can remember my mom has called an event that has no other explanation than the Lord had His tender hand in it a GODCIENT (rather than an accident)! I was truly blessed that day!

Hair twisting update!

I don't think that I have been very successful in getting Zoey to stop twisting her hair. This morning she twisted so much she got her finger caught in the tangle. I am ready to get the clippers out and buzz it off like her dad's. Everyone says she'll grow out of it...I am afraid she will be bald by then!

WOW...9 years!

I was baptized on Oct 9, 1999...so this past Thurs was my nine year mark in the Church. Wow, how my life has changed in the past nine years. My sweet visiting teacher showed up at my door with this beautiful bouquet of nine roses. Wasn't that very thoughtful!

I want you all to know that I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the ONLY way to true happiness. I love my Heavenly Father very much. He listens to our prayers and knows the intentions of our hearts. He know us by name, He knows our strenghts or weaknesses. HE LOVES US! We are His children and He does not want us to suffer. He wants us to be happy. That's why He has given us commandments to live by.
I know that I have a Savior, as do all of you, that has suffered for my sins. He is the only one can allow us to return to our Father in Heaven. He will walk by our side, if we let him. We need to trust in Him and walk in faith, be ever believing and not fearing. Fear and true faith can not exist in the same heart. I was blessed to be born to parents who love and care for me very much. They taught me right from wrong, morals, and manners. I do hope that I can be successful in passing those teachings to my own children. I am thankful that Heavenly Father trusts me enough to give me beautiful children to raise. I truly enjoy being a mother. What great joy children bring. I am married to a good man, who loves be a dad as much as I love being a mom. I am blessed to have him in my life. I know that everything that I have and everything that I am comes from an ever loving Heavenly Father. My life is so blessed. Heavenly Father takes very good care of me and my family. I am very thankful for that. I know as the years continue to pass...my testimony will grow and my faith in my Lord and Savior will only get stronger!

Halloween cutie

Ryan's great Aunt Arla (Zoey has her middle name Renee) sent this cute Halloween to Rylee when she was Avery's size. All of the girls have worn it. I just love Avery's little piggies!

Twins?

I have been asked a lot lately if "those two are twins" when we have been out and about. Sitting down in the cart they do look like they are similar size, especially since Avery weighs only 1 pound less than Zoey. If you stand them side by side Zoey is almost a full head taller. They are defiantly a trouble making team. They like to unroll a whole roll of toilet paper into the toilet. We even bought the toilet at home depot that you can flush a whole roll down and not get clogged. Let me say that is false advertising. They taught their little friend Micali how to do this the other day while she was visiting. Let's hope the toilet at the Peless home is safe! Sisters yes...troublemakers yes...twins no!

Ready for concrete

The footings are dug and the forms are set...we are ready for concrete. We just need the wonderful Alaska weather to cooperate. The contractor, Dave, said that he is probably going to build a tent over it and get a heater in there to keep it warm enough to pour. Let's hope it all works.

Rylee's artwork

Rylee drew this picture of her and Camry. I thought it was pretty cute. You can see at the top...she learned how to make lower case "e's."

Ellie the Elephant

Rylee made this cute elephant at preschool. She has been playing with it since she brought it home. Rylee even helped Ellie say the bedtime prayer last night.

What is this white stuff??

I think Rylee got her sledding hill

Zoey enjoying a snowy snack

Avery is not sure what to do with this stuff

Rylee taking a lick of snow

We woke up to this white stuff this morning. It is crazy. We usually get a little tease on snow in early October, but it doesn't usually stick like this. The roads were bad and the people were driving crazy. I drove 35 all the way home from town and I had morons passing me like I was standing still. They need to slow down. I really don't like driving on nasty roads. Every time I slide I get a sick feeling in my stomach. We really need it to be good weather so we can get some concrete poured. Say some prayers for us....please!
