No more white stuff...

Our yard has cleared and all the snow is gone. Which is sad for me, because of the mess that was under the snow due to construction. The pictures above is where we used to have grass. Ryan says that we aren't doing anything with it this summer except cleaning up the trash, since we have no money or what little money we do have has to go to the hospital bill. You are also supposed to let the land settle for awhile to avoid frost heaves that the great state of AK gets.
On the bright side of things, we have had some great days this week. It has been in the 50's. The girls are loving it. They played outside this whole afternoon and we even went for a walk down our road. We do have a few places where there is some grass left for them to play on. They are so excited to get to be outside. It makes me happy too!

Rylee's haircut

Rylee has a VERY tender head and every morning is a fight to comb her long hair. I made several suggestions about her having her hair short again and how easy it would be. She finally decided she would like to cut it. So thanks to her talented Aunt Jennifer she got her hair cut yesterday. We were going to for just at the chin, but it ended up a little shorter. Oh well, it will grow. It still looks cute and the best part is that it was much easier this morning brushing it...no tears! Yeah! She loves it...it put a bounce in her step!

No luck!

I got a phone call from the police department and they were not able to get anything off the surveillance video. Apparently, the camera directly above me was not working and the jewelry counter one doesn't show the area I was in. They couldn't even find me on the tape. So no luck in catching the person who took my cash. I guess if it weren't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all!!!

When will it end?????

So I really would like to know
when our bad luck will end????

On Sat, I decided to get a sitter and take my husband to dinner since he had been in the house all week and was going stir crazy. We went to dinner and then to Fred Meyer. I had my purse in my cart. I had unzipped it to get my shopping list out. I stopped and was looking at the purses that were on clearance because mine is falling apart. You can't get the cart down the aisle so I had it parked on the end. Ryan said he needed to use the bathroom. So I pulled the cart closer to me and bent down to look at the bottom shelf. Ryan came back and we ventured on. When we got to the check out, I got my wallet out to pay. (I use cash for groceries to help me stay within budget.) I had NO money in my wallet and my wallet was turned upside down. Someone got into my purse in and took ALL my cash. Let me just say that I had just got the cash for groceries out and had no spent any...there was at least $4o0 in there. I burst into tears and was SO angry. We had to file a police report and they were going to look at the surveillance tapes to see if they could catch anything. I am sure that they won't be able to get anything. I sure hope that the jerk needed that money much more than we did!!!! It had been quite the week!!!

Ryan Snowmachining

Here are a few pictures of Ryan's last snowmaching trip on April 1st. He enjoyed the day. I know he wishes he could be out doing this on his days off rather than laying low and trying to heal.

Zoey and the scissors

Somehow Zoey managed to cut her lip with the scissors. It bled really bad. I got it stopped and put ice on it. There is a huge chunk of skin there, but the DR won't do anything for it since she is so little. She said it takes two big shots from under the chin to numb the lip and she doesn't even want to attempt that with her. She said she will have a pretty good scar and to watch for infection, but other than that there is not much we can do. It looks a lot worse in person than in this picture!!!
They say bad things happen in threes...we should be done right?? Rylee's tooth episode, Ryan's appendix, and Zoey's lip. I sure hope we are done, because I am exhausted and feel like I have been run over!

A not so Happy Easter for Ryan

After spending, a sleepness night in a very hot Anchorage hotel room on Friday night and shopping all day Saturday, Ryan woke up at 3:00 AM on Easter with a bad pain in his side. He tried to get himself comfortable and back to sleep, but never could. By 7:00 he was in pretty bad pain and I figured that he was having troubles with his appendix. I called and spoke to our friend who is an EMT/firefighter (thanks Matt) and he told me to test his side with the reflex test. If it hurts really bad when I let go with my hand then it is probably his appendix and I should take him in. About 7:30 I asked Ryan what he thought we should do and he said that he should go to the hospital, I knew he was in bad pain. I called his mom and she came over and took care of the girls. I got him to the hospital about 8:45. Ryan kept trying to convince everyone that his pain wasn't that bad and he should go home. The DR ordered some blood work and called in the surgeon, who happened to be in the hospital because he had an earlier surgery. He came done and poked around Ryan's belly and said there was no way he was going home. They had him in surgery by 12:00 and into a room by 2:00 PM. His appendix was swollen and very infected, on it's way to rupturing, but had not burst yet. He had to spend the night in order to receive the three strong doses of antibiotics that they wanted him to have. He was Ryan, just as funny coming out from under the anesthetic as he is then he is not on anything. He teased and joked with all the nurses. He was a good patient, given the circumstances. When I was registering him, they had no record of him in the computer. I don't think he has been to the hospital as a patient since he was born in it. This was his very first surgery. We are very blessed for that! I had him home by noon on Monday. He is doing well. He is sore when it come to moving. He is supposed to be resting, but is bored out of his mind. The surgeon said he should really be off work for 2 weeks, but he might get to go back next week and run the front. We will see how he is feeling. It was a very long day, but I am thankful that we were able to catch it in time and nothing worse happened.

Dying eggs with the girls on Thursday.

The girls were up at 6:00 AM. I got up watched them see what the Easter bunny brought and hunt eggs.

The girls all dressed up for church. Thanks to Gramma and Aunt Jennifer, they looked like pretty princesses.

Swimming Lessons

I decided to give the girls something to do, since we still have lots of snow outside. I knew I would not be up for lessons this summer with a HUGE belly or new baby, so we took them for the past 3 weeks. They did great. Both of them will go completely under water. They both jumped off the diving board...yeap, Zoey jumped right off. She loved it. I am glad that I have girls who enjoy the water, but Zoey does scare me a little with her fearlessness.

Rylee loses her first tooth

We have had quite the day. Rylee was getting ready to eat breakfast this morning. She was going to eat a waffle. She got the syrup bottle out and couldn't get it open with her had so she decided to try her mouth. She ended up loosening her bottom tooth. It was bent all the way forward and bleeding a lot. I took her to the bathroom and had her rinse with cold water and spit. All of the sudden, she turned white as a ghost (she had NO COLOR in her face, her lips were even pale) and started sweating like crazy, her shirt began to soak through and her hair was drenched. She said "mommy I am going to throw up." I got her to the couch and put a cold rag on her head. She ended up falling asleep for over 2 hours. (We found out that she reacts to blood and pain much like her daddy and Grampa Gary) It was quite the experience.
She layed around for most of the day. I tried to get her to eat and drink, but she refused. Finally, this evening she asked for some bread. She bit into it and out came her tooth. She got so excited and wanted to call and tell everyone. She called her daddy first. We put it in a special tooth envelope for the tooth fairy to come and find tonight. She went from a little girl in shock to an excited big girl who lost her first tooth. Like I said, we have had quite the day.

Redoubt is still going

I took these pictures...yes me...on the way home from town. I know they are not National Geographic quality, but I was happy that it was FINALLY clear enough to get a few shots. It went off again this morning at 6. The ash headed toward Homer. This is just the steam coming out.

Avery and Ethan's bday party

We finally celebrated Avery's birthday party with her cousin Ethan. Remember he is only 23 hours younger than her. No fancy cakes...just a cupcake tree with Dora and Diego. They both LOVE them. We had a nice little party with family. She licked all the frosting off her cupcake and enjoyed several scoops of strawberry ice cream. (A girl after her Gramma Rachel's heart). She liked all her presents, but she has packed around the Dora card that her Uncle Joe sent all day long. She won't let it out of her sight. Kids are so cute!
