It is tradition in my family to eat icecream for breakfast on the 4th of July. Since my parents were here we had to carry the tradition on. It is one family tradition that my kids had NO PROBLEM celebrating.

Since Levi is still really small and I am recovering, we decided to for go the usual 4th of July at the cabin and just stay around our house. Rylee was invited to spend the weekend at the cabin with the rest of the Ellis family. She had a blast playing in the lake and cooking cookies on in their "easy bake" oven that they made with coals from the camp fire.
We had a fire pit and roasted hotdogs and made smores. I also had a true 4th of July...I was able to eat my mom's macaroni salad made by my mom...there's nothing better. I do have to admit that even though this is my 7th 4th of July in Alaska...I still miss the fireworks. Darn that midnight sun!

OMG ~ what a cool tradition. I could definitely get into eating ice cream for breakfast. I would have a hard time NOT having it on July 5th and 6th . . . I love ice cream. Looks like you guys are truly enjoying the warm weather. ~Grma Peless
It does seem very strange not to have fireworks on the 4th. I wonder if I will ever get used to it.
